I am a Colorado native (mostly), being born in Boulder on July 14, 1971. I lived in Boulder until the summer of my second grade year, when my family moved to Arizona. I lived in a small town near Tucson until the summer of my eighth grade year, when we moved back to Boulder. I went to Centennial Jr. High and Boulder High School, where I graduated in 1989.
I spent my first year of college at the University of Arizona in Tucson. After one year I returned to Boulder and finished college at CU, graduating in 1994.
I got my first teaching job as a first grade teacher at Martin Park (now called Creekside) Elementary in Boulder in the spring of 1995. When Superior Elementary was going to open in the fall of 1996, I jumped at the chance to work at a brand new school, and have been here ever since! The first two years I taught first grade, and the rest have been in fourth. I really enjoy teaching. I like to find fun and creative ways to help kids learn and love school.
When I am not teaching, I love to spend time with my family and friends. I have a great daughter, Lily. She is a student here at Superior Elementary. When we are not in school, we keep busy with bike rides, games of soccer in the yard, walking friends’ dogs, and even some cartoon-watching here and there. My family just got a little bigger and better this summer - I got married! Jen Almquist and I got married in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. We love to go on walks around the neighborhood with Lily and our dogs, Kea and Kai.
I like to run, play soccer, snowboard, make movies on my Mac, and build stuff for my house. My favorite project is building decks.
