First Schools in Boulder

1st School – Pioneer Elementary, built of wood in 1860 at 15th & Walnut. Built with wood frame, 24’x36’. Moved from site in 1972 and converted to residence. Burned.


2nd School – Central Elementary School, built of brick and stone in 1872 at 15th & Walnut. Became Boulder Valley Education Center in 1966 and was demolished in 1972.


3rd School – Pine Street School (now Whittier International School) built of brick in 1882 at 20th & Pine.
