Unity Poster Project

Students recreated vintage Hawaiian postcards using different enlargement techniques.
Each student was given a small piece of the postcard to enlarge on paper with colored
pencils. Once finished, we assembled the pieces on large paper and discussed how
working together creates “unity”, that each individual has their own style and when brought
together brings continuity to the finished poster.

Op Art with Bridget Riley

Students learned about Op Art (optical illusion art) and Op Artist Bridget Riley. We discussed the different ways in which Op Art fools the eye and the different tricks an artist can use to make the illusion. We discussed concave and convex lines and the importance of value to create the illusion of lines being rounded. Students used a combination of markers and crayons to create their Op Art!
