Students studied contemporary artist Jasper Johns and his beautiful numbers paintings! Students learned that Jasper Johns chose numbers for his art because he didnt think people paid much attention to them even though we use them every day. He was very fascinated with making the ordinary extraordinary! We drew a 3x4 grid on paper and then used number stencils to fill the spaces interestingly. Students then created two patterns in each square with the idea of making the numbers POP out!
