Teaching Background
|
This is the start to my 24th year of teaching and my 14th at Whittier. Like Mary, I have an Early Childhood Education degree and a Master’s in Elementary Ed. Before moving to Boulder, I taught in private schools in Boston, St. Louis (my hometown; Go Cardinals!). I also taught in Singapore at the Singapore American School. I’ve taught Kindergarten through 5th grade, and have experience as a Literacy specialist and TAG coordinator. While my girls were little, I enjoyed being a CU supervisor for student teachers. In my free time, I enjoy, backpacking, snowboarding, running, scrapbooking, and playing golf.

Teaching Background |
I officially retired after 26 years with BVSD at the end of the 2006-2007 school year. During the 2007-2008 school year I will be working at Whittier teaching literacy part time. This will be my 7th year teaching at Whittier. Previously, I taught literacy for two years at Whittier followed by four years teaching kindergarten. Before teaching at Whittier,
I taught first grade for 18 years at Aurora 7 Elementary School, in Boulder.
My first two years of teaching were at Crest View Elementary. My interests outside of teaching
include playing golf, reading, traveling, and spending time with my family. |

Teaching Background |
Tiffany Boyd is beginning her 16th year in the Boulder Valley School District. She holds a Masters in Education from the University of Colorado. As a classroom teacher for 11 years, Tiffany taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grades at Mapleton Elementary and Southern Hills Middle School.. After Mapleton closed, she taught literacy at Foothill Elementary for four years. She has hosted numerous learning labs for teachers in her classroom. Some of these labs have focused on incorporating reading comprehension strategies into book clubs, as well as how to help students organize their non-fiction writing. She has traveled and presented with Anne Goudvis, author of Strategies that Work and the Comprehension Toolkit. Tiffany works in classrooms across the country modeling lessons and guiding teachers on how to incorporate writing and the comprehension strategies throughout the curriculum. Tiffany’s husband Jeff is an Elementary Art teacher in St. Vrain Valley School District and they have two children, Ellory age 5, and Lincoln age 3. Tiffany looks forward to being back at Whittier where she did her student teaching with Craig Yager in 1991! Proud to be a Wildcat again!
