Dinosaur Drawings
After the students learned about fossils, First we discussed how you can draw just about anything by starting with basic shapes. Then, we drew three dinosaurs and outlined them with sharpies. Students finished them with oil pastels and crayons.

Ceramic Fossils:
Students learned about the amazing world of fossils and dinosaurs. We created ceramic fossils by pressing sea shells in to clay. After they were fired, we painted them black. To finish them, we added metallic rubbings to help the fossils stand out!

Faith Ringgold Story Quilts
Students were introduced to Faith Ringgold and her amazing story quilts. After reading her book "Tar Beach", students sketched themselves on fabric flying over Boulder. We then colored them with crayons and framed them with pieces of fabric.

Ancient Greek Amphorae
Students studied the ancient Greeks and their famous amphoraes (vases). First we learned about symmetry and the technique of folding paper and cutting a shape so that you have the same on both sides. Then we mixed yellow red together to create our very own "terra-cotta" color. Finally, we used black to paint designs/patterns and tell stories on them.
