Find Your Desk Open House: An evening event the day before school starts where parents help their child get settled in for the first day of school.

Back to School Night: Meet for the first time or reunite with the Whittier community. There will be food and drinks for sale and fun activities.

Fall Conferences: This conference happens in the first trimester. Teachers and parents discuss assessments, curriculum, and questions.

Heritage Night: An evening event where Whittier families celebrate their heritages through food, drink, and displays about their home countries.

First Grade Market: In connection with our first grade unit on Markets, the first grade classes are sponsoring a Market at Whittier. Each classroom is making an item to sell. Several parents and teachers are bringing in items or services to sell. There will be food, drink, crafts, history ornaments, clothing, jewelry, art, massage, and more. We hope that everyone in the Whittier neighborhood will come and enjoy shopping at our market.

Inquiry Fair: An evening event that happens in the winter and show cases first graders inquiry based study of their personal histories.

Sock Hop: An evening event that happens in the winter and celebrates the dress, food, and dance of the fifties era. There is a DJ who plays music during the event and dinner is offered.

Student Lead Conferences: At the end of the second trimester, first graders lead their parents, family members and teachers in conferences that allow students to reflect on their work and take leadership in assessing their progress and goal setting.

Curriculum Nights: These first grade evening events happen 6 times a year. First grade families are invited to be involved in a session where they learn about first grade curriculum and how to help your child at home.

Musical Presentations: Towards the end of the year, the first graders will give a musical performance show casing their progress in music and performance.

Theatrical Presentations: At the end of the third trimesters, the first graders will present plays that they may be involved in writing.

PTA Roundtable Meetings: These meetings happen the first Wednesday of every month from 6:30 - 8:00 PM. This is a chance for parents and teachers to work together to support Whittier.
