2nd Grade Projects Page As part of their social action for their unit of inquiry, community elements, second graders sold magnets, buttons (with community phrases on them like “I love Boulder”) and baked goods. They raised $197.47 and are donating money to EFAA (Emergency Family Assistance) and an African Organization called Garden Mosaics, which helps support community garden projects in impoverished South Africa.

Here are some photos from "Bug Night," the culminating activity to the 2nd Grade IB Unit titled "Arthropods." Six legged races.
Cocoon wrapping.
Each class performed a short play.
Students shared their Arthropod folders.
Students tried to stump their parents with “challenge” questions related to Arthropods.
Also, here are photos from a presentation about arthropods.
These are all photos of when Tom Lang, writer and Alaskan river guide, came to 2nd grade as a writer in residence to enrich our "Above & Below" IB unit on Alaska and Australia. Tom worked with both classes each day, and the kids produced a finished story under his care. He also was a great resource for us for the Alaska portion of our studies. He had invaluable insights as to how Alaska has changed over time, what its natural resources are, what the culture is like and how it’s changed with time.
