Teaching

Background

I have been teaching in public schools for 17 years. My experience includes 8 years of special education and 9 years with regular class experience in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. My Masters Degree is in Bilingual-Multicultural Special Education and I have coordinated and taught enrichment classes for a TAG (Talented and Gifted) Program.

Strengths

and

Interests

I believe I do well in working with all school specialists to individualize a student's progress. I enjoy teaching by integrating subject matter such as reading, writing, and social studies with the inclusion of the arts. Having lived in the mountains for over twenty years, I have a particular love of outdoor education and sharing nature with my students.

Teaming

Approach

I feel my current third grade partner and I provide a balanced literacy program where our skills complement each other. We team- plan all curriculum content areas with our student teachers using an experiential approach. Math groupings are flexible and generally determined by ability with 4-6 teachers providing small group instruction to groups of 6-14 children.
