Georgia
O'Keefe Flowers
Students studied the artist Georgia O'Keefe and her flower paintings.
Students observed her use of cropping and extreme closeups to accentuate
her own style. Students then created their own flowers using this style
of cropping and finished them with chalk pastels.
Marc
Chagall & Surrealism
Students studied the artist Marc Chagall and his amazing paintings. We
discussed Surrealism and different morphing techniques to create a dreamy
piece of art. Students colored their drawings with oil pastels and watercolor.
We finished them by mounting them on black paper.
Frank
Stella 3-D Wall Art
Students studied the 3-D wall sculptures of contemporary artist Frank
Stella. Students then made their own wall
art creating patterns with oil pastel and watercolor. The challenge for
students was to cut, glue, and manipulate the designs in order to make
them pop out like 3-D sculpture.
Andy
Warhol Pop Art Portraits
Students studied world famous Pop artist Andy Warhol.We discussed his
use of repetition to place importance on the image. Students then created
a self portrait that was duplicated four times on colored paper of their
choice. We then color coded them with colored pencils.
