| After
receiving an undergraduate degree in geology from Colgate University,
and a Masters degree in Elementary Education from Lehigh University,
I came to Boulder to officially begin my teaching career. I spent
a wonderful year at Whittier working in Special Education with Deb
Livingston. Since there were no teaching openings at Whittier the
following year, I went to High Peaks and taught second grade for three
years. In 1997, I returned to Whittier, and have been teaching fifth
grade with Craig ever since. Im here to stay! |

| I
believe in total teaming: this includes parents, volunteers, student
teachers, and students as well as specialists - all as part of our
team. We work to create an interdependent community of learners who
take on the responsibility for their own learning, and a love of learning. |

I earned my BA in Elementary Education from Fort Lewis College in
Durango, CO. My MA in Education: Learning and Teaching is from Regis
University in Denver, CO. I have taught kindergarten, bilingual first
grade, and fifth grade in Basalt and Boulder Colorado. Inquiry learning
has always been at the foundation of my learning/teaching philosophy.
I am thrilled to be part of the Whittier International School family! |

I love teaching, and am especially interested in science and social
studies because all the rest of the curriculum can be integrated
into these disciplines. My hobbies include reading, hiking with
my dogs, skiing, music, (I play the cello and all the recorders)
and riding my bicycle around Boulder. I have traveled to Europe
and Central America as well as throughout Canada (my home country)
and the US (my adopted country.) |

My belief in total teaming mirrors Lise’s. Together we are all
supporting and creative members of the learning community and each
of us contributes to its success. The more we work together and collaborate,
the better school will be for our students. I am excited to be part
of the strong team effort at Whittier. |
