Check
out the Kindergarteners working on their Paul Klee prints! They did a
great job printmaking!

Paul
Klee Printmaking Portraits:
Students studied the paintings of Abstract Artist Paul Klee and his use
of lines and shapes. We discussed how to use these lines, and geometric
shapes in order for the students to create their own portrait. Then students
drew their image onto a foam, which we inked and made prints from.
Henri
Rousseau Jungle Drawings:
Students studied artist Henri Rousseau and his jungle paintings. We practiced
drawing our own jungles and then colored them in with oil pastels. We
finished them by glueing animal print borders on the edges!
African
Painted Houses
We began this lesson by reading Maya Angelou's book "My Painted House,
My Friendly Chicken, and Me" based on the Ndebele Tribe in Africa.
We then discussed symmetry and color mixing which led us to create our
own African painted houses just like in the book!
Cool
Hands & Warm Hearts
Students learned about the warm and cool colors. We then created two paintings
using these colors. Next, we traced our hands on the cool painting and
our hearts on the warm painting and cut them out. We finished them by
glueing them to black paper.
Secondary
Bugs
Students learned about the primary colors and then experimented with tempera
paint, creating secondary
colors. Once they were dry, students created bugs from their paintings
and cut them out. We then glued them to green paper and finished our bug
creations with pencils and markers!
Mary
Cassatt Family Drawings
Students studied the paintings of American Artist Mary Cassatt and discussed
the element of family and the different ways of drawing them. Students
sketched their families with pencils, outlined them in marker, and then
colored them
with crayons. Next, we glued them on to a background and added colored
paper for a collage, frame effect.
Frederick
Remmington Horse Drawings
Students studied the paintings Frederick Remmington and discussed what
makes a picture a "western". We then traced our hands and turned
them into horses by adding a mane and a tail. Students added a background
and outlined in black marker. We finished them by adding color!
